Click Download to save it as llms.txt. Keep that exact name, all lowercase, saved as plain UTF-8 text.
Upload it to your site root
Place it next to robots.txt so it opens at yourdomain.com/llms.txt. Use your host file manager or FTP. If your platform does not allow root files, redirect /llms.txt to a hosted copy.
Let AI crawlers in, then check
Make sure robots.txt does not block AI assistants with the robots.txt Builder, then run the AI Visibility Scanner to confirm the file is found.

What is an llms.txt file?
An llms.txt file is a short Markdown file at the root of your website that gives AI models a curated summary of your business and links to your most useful pages. The format was proposed at llmstxt.org in 2024. It starts with your name as a heading, a one paragraph summary in a quote block, a few details, then sections of links.
Where do I upload llms.txt?
Upload it to the root of your domain so it loads at https://yourdomain.com/llms.txt, the same folder as robots.txt. It must be public, served as plain text, and not blocked in robots.txt. Use our robots.txt Builder to make sure AI crawlers are allowed to read it.
Do ChatGPT, Claude and Google actually read llms.txt?
llms.txt is an emerging standard, not a requirement. Some AI tools, agents and coding assistants fetch it, and many documentation sites publish one. Google has said it does not use it for ranking. It takes a few minutes to publish and gives any model that looks for it an accurate, current description in your own words.
What belongs in the Optional section?
The Optional section is for links an AI tool can skip when it is short on space, such as the blog archive, press coverage, careers or legal pages. Keep your services, pricing, service area and contact pages in the main sections so they are always read first.
How is llms.txt different from robots.txt and sitemap.xml?
robots.txt controls which crawlers may visit, a sitemap lists every page you want indexed, and llms.txt explains who you are and points to the few pages that matter. They work together. Build the other two with our robots.txt Builder and Sitemap Generator.
Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. Your last inputs are kept in this browser only so you can come back to them, and share links store the data after the # sign in the address, which is never sent to our server.
